Charlie Kirk, Social Media and Your Career

Charlie Kirk, Social Media and Your Career

I’m saddened by the events with Charlie Kirk for many reasons, and my thoughts went without comment.

I wish the same could be said for millions more.

It’s astounding the ocean of vile posts and vitriol that began to circulate, some of which are created by fake bots emanating from foreign nations that want us to tear ourselves apart.

But some of which are also from people who should rightly know better, and whose careers are now altered by the words “FIRED.”

It’s also astounding to me the number of people pointing out posts with “look at what this person posted, MAKE THEM FAMOUS,” as if they’re a bunch of tattling third graders screaming to Mom.

Social media is the digital equivalent to the mosh pit…

It’s easy to go all in. Body slamming can create lasting damage.

When your emotions are running hot, exercise discretion.

The concert can be enjoyed from Section 1, row 10, too…

As an Executive Recruiter for many years I cannot begin to count the number of careers social media has destroyed.

Strong leaders know when it’s best to stay out of the pit.
